DG (3240) Dr. Kameswar Singh Elangbam made his official visit to the club on 21st April, 2026 (TUESDAY) DG Dr. KS Elangbam arrived at Jorhat at 2.30pm. After his visits to the project sites at Cinnamara Bagan LP School and Mission Hospital, and after the Club Board Meeting that was held at Rotary Trust Building, he was present for the Club Assembly at 7.30pm at Hotel Prism. The DG’s address was the highlight of the meeting. He talked about the 7 areas on which Rotary works and requested dedicated Rotarians to follow it.

The club wished Rtn Dr. Minakshi Phookan Hazarika on her birthday that fell on 17th April itself, and a cake was cut and distributed among all members. Preparation for the District Governors visit to the club on 21st April, 2026. Mr. Bhaskar Borpuzari, who serves in the Health Dept, and an invited guest, came forward with a proposal to collaborate with Rotary Jorhat in the field of medical relief and assistance to the common masses, such as opening a lab for Sugar Test in strategic locations at reasonable rates, training youths in paramedical assistance, etc.

Past Jorhat Rotarian Shri Citendranath Goswami arrived as Guests to the meeting accompanied by his brother, honourable MLA Shri Hitendranath Goswami. Akash Jyoti Gogoi of ‘Bahubali’ and Prodyumna Borah of ‘Kristir Kothia’ was also present in the meeting as guests. President informs about the impromptu visit of Rtn Girija Sarda, President, Rotary Club of Biratnagar Downtown, from RID 3292, Nepal Bhutan tomorrow. President acquaints the house that the second and final phase of Tat Xal/Weaving Loom and Yarn Distribution to SHGs, a joint project with ONGC, is slated for April 10, 2026 (Friday) in the 3 locations of Teok, Jorhat & Titabar. Rtn Karimul Haque suggested that our club should sponsor 2 students (1 each from Carmel & DPS) for the RYLA meet that will be held in Dibrugarh from April 24, 2026 to April 26 2026.just as it was done last year. The individual participation fees is 2500/- (all inclusive).

The President informed that the All India Scheduled Caste Scheduled Tribe Welfare Association, ONGC, Jorhat Branch, in association with Rotary Club of Jorhat, kick started the distribution of Tat-Xal Weaving Handloom Machine and Yarn to 10 Nos. Self-help Groups (total 20 Nos. set), under CSR ONGC ACP 2025-26 on 12th March, 2026. Rtn Dr. Minakshi P. Hazarika earnestly requested members to participate in the March 14, 2026 (Saturday) Cycle Rally to be flagged off from JB University at 7:00 am. She further informed that Rtn. Dhattatreya Hosagrahar would be sponsoring the Breakfast of the expected 100 participants of the Cycle Rally and that Rtn. Brijesh Poddar would be sponsoring the 100 water bottles that will be needed for the Rally.

Secretary Rtn Minakshi P Hazarika informed the house about the forthcoming Cycle Rally which will be held on 14th March, 2026 starting at Rotary venue at 7am. This rally has been organized in collaboration with Jagannath Barooah University, DCB Girls’ College and CKB Commerce College. The route has been finalized and police permission taken care of. Rtn Dhattatreya Hosagrahar has generously offered to sponsor the breakfast for the day. International Women’s Day will be celebrated at Jorhat Central Jail with the 9 Women Inmates and 2 children on 8th March. Rtn Deepak Dutta informs the House that Renovation/repair of the Girls Toilet at SADAR BAGAN L.P. SCHOOL is completed and ready for the formal handover. The amount of 18000/- spent on the Girls Toilet Repair/Renovation project has been generously borne by Rtn Deepak Dutta.

Deepak Dutta generously offered to finance the renovation of the girls’ toilet at SADAR BAGAN L.P. SCHOOL, Tocklai, Cinnamara (Jorhat) as it is not in a usable condition. Rtn. Deepak Dutta & Rtn. Karimul Haque had visited the school on December 8, 2026 to get a better perspective.

Birthday of Rtn Akshay Sharma coincided with the 2737th Regular Meeting. Akram Khan-Marketing Manager, Medanta Medicity, Gurugram- spoke briefly about their wish to hold a free health check-up camp in collaboration with Rotary Jorhat sometime in January, 2026. Then, the long-awaited Pool Dinner and gala night began. Three couple/pair games were conducted by Anne Manisha Sharma, and a game of housie was piloted by Rtn. Akshay Sharma. The sumptuous and splendid Pool Dinner was held after a long gap of more than ten years and it was truly a cherished event. The total attendance was about 40--Members Present: 18; Guests Present: 20 (including Annes & Rotarylets).

Rtn Bhopinder Singh Rakhra gives an update about the Children’s Day Program celebrated by Jorhat Rotary in collaboration with YMCA in a hundred-year old school, situated in the premises of Mission Hospital. Om Baruah, a student of Class 11 at Carmel School, Jorhat gave a short talk on the relevance and importance of coding today. He desires to organise a Coding Competition and has submitted a letter to Jorhat Rotary. This matter is proposed to be taken up in the forthcoming BoD. Rtn Deepak Dutta invited Ms Tamaswini Buragohain as a guest today. On the request of the President, she gave a brief self-introduction.

4 Weekly Regular Meetings, and a BoD was held within this November month. The meetings were fruitful and productive in terms of chalking out short-term goals and projects. The Rotary Education Trust Account, which was inactive for sometime was revived by the President and Secretary. Decision was taken to immediately Paint and Beautify the Walls of the Classrooms with Educative messages at the Jorhat Boys Residential Training Centre in Timtimia, adopted by the Club. Funds to be utilized from the The Rotary Education Trust Account and Secretary Rtn. Dr. Minakshi will be sponsoring one or two of the paintings. Rtn. Kumud Chandra Lekhok is entrusted with opening an Instagram Account for Rotary Club of Jorhat.

The 2733rd Regular Weekly Meeting was held on 31st October 2025 at Rotary Service Trust Building at 7 pm. Rtn. Dilip K. Somani received communication from PDG Nilesh Agarwal regarding the 1 lakh dollar (Approx. 88 Lakhs) CSR Grant from ABCI Infrastructures Pvt Limited through Rotary Foundation, South Asia Office, New Delhi for building a Chitta Samadhi Kendra in Silchar. The President requested respected PDG Trilok Singh to kindly put forward his views on the matter on behalf of the Rotary Service Trust. PDG Trilok Singh, who is currently the Chairman of Rotary Service Trust, remarked that the proposed project will permanently boost the public image of Rotary Club of Jorhat and this is a golden opportunity to collaborate with Rotary Foundation. After discussion and consultation with the members present, the President Rtn Dr Neeta Lagachu Taye requested Rotary Service Trust to give the acceptance to the proposal and inform the concerned individuals.

World Polio Day was celebrated on 24th October at DCB Girls College where Dr Rupanjali Phukan addressed the 95 NCC girl cadets of DCB Girls College. She spoke of their responsibility as future mothers and explained the importance of prevention of Polio. 2. Rtn Kamal Jain who completed 40 years of sincere service in Rotary was felicitated with a beautiful memento, a phulam gamocha and a gift to Anne Sangeeta.

RWM & NATION BUILDER AWARD CEREMONY: The Nation Builder Award Ceremony clubbed with the 2730th Regular Weekly Meeting was held on 12.09.2025 at Rotary Service Trust Building from 5 pm onwards. 18 Teachers from 16 Schools were felicitated in the Award Function. The Award Ceremony having 60 footfalls included besides Teacher Awardees, a few Heads of Schools, Annes, Media Persons, students of CKB Commerce College, invited guests and Guest of Honour, Jaba Rani Borah, District Program Officer (ECCE and IE) Samagra Shiksha Jorhat, and the Jorhat Rotarians.

In this RWM, Rotary Club of Jorhat got a new addition to the club. Mr. Kumud Chandra Lekhok,, an Architect by profession, was inducted by PDG Trilok Singh. Rtn. Kumud is just about 31 years old, and is very enthusiastic and sincere. He has already participated as a non-member in the extension activities of the club such as the Medical Camp & the NBA evaluation process. The club also saw the presence of three guests with a keen interest to join the Rotary family- Ms. Monalisa Borthakur Singh, Principal, DPS, Jorhat; Mr Kartik Balakrishnan (Tea Industry); & Mr Jagat Jyoti Keot, Manager, SBI.

The RWM on August 15, 2025 was not held as India celebrated its 79th Independence Day. Rotarians of Jorhat observed the day by assembling in the club premises early in the morning to hoist the Tricolour with pride and joy. In the later part of the morning, about 20 members of Rotary Club of Jorhat made a beeline for the Jorhat Central Jail and Open Jail to fulfil the task allotted by the District Administration, i.e., to distribute food packets to about 500 inmates of both the Jails in collaboration with the Marwari Sangathan of Jorhat. The inmates of the jail also experienced a fulfilling day as the Marwari Sanstha organized a musical event for them.

The 60th Charter Celebration, held on May 28 2026, was inaugurated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Prof. Ajanta Borgohain Rajkonwar, Vice Chancellor of Assam Women’s University, Club President Rtn. Dr. Neeta Lagachu Taye, and Club Secretary Rtn. Dr. Minakshi Phookan Hazarika, followed by an invocation from Anne Meenakshi Sharma, who is also the President of the Inner Wheel Club, Jorhat. Rotarians who have completed more than four decades in Rotary felicitated. Past District Governor Rtn. Trilok Singh, Rtn. Kamal Jain, Rtn. CA Dilip Kumar Somani, Rtn. Bhopinder Singh Rakhra and Rtn. Surajit Chakraborty were honored for their longstanding commitment to the organization and its work. Chief Guest, Prof. Ajanta Borgohain Rajkonwar, in her valuable address, emphasized the role of organizations such as Rotary in sustaining public trust, social responsibility and community participation. Rotarians from the neighbouring clubs also graced the Diamond Anniversary Charter event.

Joint BoD hosted by Rtn Dhatatrreya H. at his residence. Rtn. Deepak Dutta requested to prepare 20 Copies of the Club Bulletin “Goodwill” to be unveiled on May 28, 2026, during the 60th Charter Night. The BoD also set a deadline of 31st July 2026 wherein all financial accounts of the previous years to be handed over to the new committee. The maintenance of the Club Building was also to be handled by the Rotary Service Trust. it was resolved to invite Honourable DC of Jorhat and VC of Assam Women's University as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. Invitations will also be extended to Lions Club Jorhat, nearby Rotary Clubs and IWC Jorhat. Rotarians who have completed 40 years of service viz PDG Rtn. Trilok Singh, Rtn CA Dilip Kumar Somani, Rtn. Bhopinder Singh Rakhra, Rtn. Surajit Chakraborty and Rtn. Kamal Jain will also be felicitated. Rtn. She remarked about their superior leadership skills, creativity, decorum, intelligence, and empathic abilities towards fellow participants in the RYLA, 2026. Arkasish Baruah & Farnaj Nusrin was invited on May 15, 2026 RWM to give their Talks on Leadership and Youth: Impact, Engagement & Setbacks in the current scenario. Both were felicitated with Mementoes and Gifts. The speakers spoke eloquently about the impactful role of youth in today’s times. World Polio Day was celebrated on 24th October, 2025 at DCB Girls College where Dr Rupanjali Phukan presented a talk on the significance of this day. She addressed the 95 NCC girl cadets/students of DCB Girls College who have a great responsibility as future mothers, and explained the importance of prevention of Polio. It was an interactive and enlightening session. Rotarians Dorothy G Momin, Dr. Minakshi Phookan Hazarika, and Rtn Ranjit Bordoloi were present on the occasion. Earlier, on October 12, 2025, marked as Pulse Polio Immunization Day,, Rtn Dr. Minakshi Phookan Hazarika had visited a polio booth in Bongal Pukhuri Centre to offer her kind help and moral support with her presence.
